Santner confident in team's form ahead of Champions Trophy final
What's the story
New Zealand's cricket team captain Mitchell Santner is banking on his side's recent form as they gear up for the Champions Trophy final against India.
The Kiwis booked their berth in the final after a comprehensive win over South Africa.
After the win, the team flew from Lahore to Dubai on March 06, three days ahead of the much-awaited clash.
However, India had defeated NZ in their final group-stage clash.
Conditions
Santner optimistic about team's adaptation to Dubai conditions
Speaking to the media after reaching Dubai, Santner said he was confident that his team would adjust to the local conditions.
"They've played all their games here in Dubai and know that surface. Obviously, the surface will dictate a little bit of how we want to operate. It might be a little bit slower than what we got in Lahore," he stated.
However, he promised fans that his team was ready for a tough battle against India on Sunday.
Advantage
Santner acknowledges India's home advantage in Dubai
Santner also acknowledged that India have played all their matches in Dubai, which gives them an advantage on this surface.
He said, "They have played all their games here in Dubal and know that surface. Obviously, the surface will dictate a little bit of how we want to operate."
Nevertheless, he remains hopeful about his team's performance.
Past match
Santner reflects on previous encounter with India
Reflecting on their earlier encounter with India in the group stage, where they lost by 44 runs, Santner remains optimistic.
"I think we'll be better for the run we had the other day against them. We've had a bit of a roll on," Santer stated.
Despite their busy schedule of traveling between Pakistan and Dubai for their last group match, semifinal and final matches, Santner assures fans his team has adapted well to this hectic routine.
