Sanju Samson owns most IPL runs for RR against KKR
Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals will lock horns in Match 31 of the 2024 Indian Premier League at Eden Gardens. An enticing contest is on offer as both these teams have played some quality cricket this season. As has been the case, Sanju Samson is expected to lead the Royals from the front. He has the most IPL runs for RR against KKR.
Samson averages nearly 30 against KKR
As mentioned, Samson is the leading run-scorer for RR against KKR in the IPL. He has scored 388 runs at an average of 29.84 in this regard. However, Samson's strike rate plunges to 120.87 against the Knight Riders. The tally includes two half-centuries, 31 fours, and 15 sixes. Ajinkya Rahane, who now plays for Chennai Super Kings, follows Samson with 338 runs.
Over 500 runs against KKR
Besides playing for RR, Samson also represented Delhi Capitals (DC) for two seasons (2016-2017). So Samson's overall run tally against the Knight Riders goes past 500. He owns 517 runs from 19 games at 30.41 against them, the 10th-most overall.
Key battles with KKR bowlers
It is worth noting that KKR all-rounder Andre Russell has dismissed Samson twice in seven IPL matches. The latter owns 32 runs in 19 balls against Russell. Against Sunil Narine, Samson owns 66 runs (82 balls) in 13 innings and has been dismissed thrice. Samson hasn't fallen to Varun Chakravarthy, having scored 39 runs in 23 balls at a strike rate of 169.56.
Samson set to complete 3,500 IPL runs for RR
Samson is set to complete 3,500 runs for RR in the IPL. He has been the nucleus of RR's batting line-up for over six years. He requires 25 more runs to become the first player with over 3,500 IPL runs for the Royals. As of now, he owns 3,475 runs from 130 games. Jos Buttler follows Samson in this regard with over 2,800 runs.
