What's the story

Former India cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has been left out of the commentary panel by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Manjrekar was also not present in Dharamsala for the first One-Day International between India and South Africa on Thursday.

Here is more on the same.

IPL 2020

'Maybe he will be left out from the IPL panel'

The report added that Manjrekar may not be part of the IPL 2020 panel as the BCCI isn't happy with his work.

"Maybe he will be left out from the IPL panel too. At this stage, it is not on top of our mind. But the fact is they are not happy with his work," a BCCI source claimed.

Controversy

In 2019, Manjrekar involved in a controversy with Jadeja

2019 was a controversial year in the commentary box for the former Indian cricketer.

First, there was the spat with Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja during the ICC World Cup 2019.

Manjrekar had called Jadeja a 'bits and pieces' cricketer.

The comments didn't go well with the left-arm spinner.

Jadeja had taken to Twitter and slammed Manjrekar for his comments.

Argument

Manjrekar also had an on-air argument with Bhogle

In the same year, Manjrekar had an issue with fellow commentator Harsha Bhogle.

Manjrekar had an on-air argument with Bhogle during the Day-Night Test match between India and Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The topic was regarding the visibility of the pink ball where Bhogle had demanded introspection by taking players' views into account.

Manjrekar lashed out at Bhogle, regretted his reaction

"You need to ask [the players about visibility] perhaps, [but] for us, those who have played the game, we have a fair idea of what's happening out there," Manjrekar had responded to Bhogle. However, he went on to regret the same later on.
