Presenting the all-round stats of Sam Curran in IPL 2024
Sam Curran was at his all-round best in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) though Punjab Kings finished ninth in the team standings. Notably, he led PBKS for the majority of the season as designated skipper Shikhar Dhawan could play just five games due to fitness issues. He also accomplished some major doubles. Let's decode his stats and records in IPL 2024.
The all-round show from skipper Curran
Curran led the team from the front with his all-round heroics. With 270 runs across 13 games at 27, he finished as PBKS' fourth-highest run-getter (SR: 123.28). He smashed two fifties. The left-arm pacer also claimed 16 wickets (ER: 10.14). Sunil Narine is the only other all-rounder with the double of 250 runs and 15 wickets this season.
Fourth captain with this double
Curran smashed a match-winning 63*(41) against Rajasthan Royals in Match 65. The PBKS skipper also took two wickets (2/24 in 3 overs) as RR were restricted to 144/9. Curran hence became only the fourth player with a 50-plus score and two wickets in an IPL match as captain. He joined the likes of Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh (twice), and JP Duminy.
First Englishman to 50 IPL wickets
Match 27 against Rajasthan Royals saw Curran become the first England bowler to complete 50 IPL wickets. Curran took 52 games to complete a half-century of IPL wickets (now 58). His economy rate is 9.65 as the tally includes a solitary four-wicket haul. He also owns a hat-trick in IPL. Meanwhile, for PBKS, he has raced to 36 wickets in as many games.
3,000 runs in T20 cricket
Curran also completed 3,000 runs in T20 cricket. He reached the milestone en route to his 29-run knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 22 in Chandigarh. Having played 229 matches, Curran now has 3,150 runs with his average and strike rate being 21 and 132.29, respectively. The tally includes 17 fifties, including five in IPL.
