Sai Sudharsan hammers century for Surrey in County Championship
India's rising batting sensation Sai Sudharsan has made his mark in the English County Championship. Representing Surrey against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, Sudharsan scored his first century for the team. His impressive innings of 105 runs included 10 fours and a six. The southpaw faced 176 balls in his stellar innings, demonstrating skill and endurance on the field.
Sudharsan's performance boosts Surrey's total score
Sudharsan's century significantly contributed to Surrey's total score of 525. His performance was complemented by opener Rory Burns, who also scored a century with 161 runs. Ryan Patel (77), Jordan Clark (53) and Will Jacks (59) also scored fifties. Their knocks showcased the strength of Surrey's batting lineup in the English County Championship. Meanwhile, Sudharsan, who arrived at number six, was the last man to be dismissed.
Sudharsan to participate in Duleep Trophy
Following his successful stint with Surrey, Sudharsan is set to return to India. He will be participating in the Duleep Trophy, which commences on September 5. The tournament will take place in Bengaluru and Anantapur. Sudharsan, a key player from Tamil Nadu, will represent Team C under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad.
A look at Sudharsan's cricket journey
Sudharsan made his domestic cricket debut in 2021. Gujarat Titans then acquired Sudharsan for Rs. 20 lakh in the IPL 2022 auction. He played eight matches in 2023, having slammed 362 runs at 51.71. The left-handed batter further slammed 527 runs in 12 innings at a strike-rate of 141.28 in IPL 2024. Sudharsan smashed a scintillating 96 in the 2023 IPL final against Chennai Super Kings.

Playing his 20th match in First-Class cricket, Sudarshan scored his fourth hundred as his best score reads 179. He also owns four fifties in the format as he averages around 36. Though he hasn't made a prolific start to his red-ball career, the southpaw is backed to get better with time. He would eye a Test debut in India's upcoming Test season.
