County Championship: Sai Sudharsan claims stunning catch of Rocky Flintoff
Rocky Flintoff, the son of renowned English all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, has made history by becoming the youngest player to debut in the County Championship for Lancashire. Aged just 16 years and 137 days, he scored an impressive 32 runs in his first match against Surrey. However, Sai Sudharsan interrupted his promising debut with a stunning backward point catch, showcasing his exceptional fielding skills.
Rocky Flintoff's debut performance in challenging conditions
Flintoff entered the game when Lancashire were struggling at 33/2 in the 11th over, following the early dismissals of captain Keaton Jennings and Luke Wells. He confidently scored his first runs by hitting Worrall's delivery for two off his pads. Despite challenging weather conditions, Flintoff managed to form a crucial partnership with Bohannon, contributing to a third-wicket stand of 40 runs.
Sudharsan's catch ends Flintoff's debut innings
Flintoff's luck ran out post-lunch when he sliced a drive from Clark's delivery, but Sudharsan made an exceptional forward dive at backward point to secure the catch. This marked the end of his debut innings, with Lancashire eventually being bowled out for 204 within 59 overs. In response, Surrey managed to score 83 runs without losing a wicket on Day one. However due to poor light conditions that halted play at just 15.4 overs.
Surrey's bowlers shine in County Championship match
Surrey's bowlers, Jordan Clark and Dan Worrall, continued their excellent form with figures of 4/57 and 3/31 respectively. They were supported by Sam Curran and Conor McKerr in their first County Championship appearances this season. Despite Lancashire's challenging total, Surrey remained unscathed at the end of Day one. Rory Burns and Dom Sibley are at the crease.
