When Sachin Tendulkar advised Ajmal to dismiss Pietersen using doosra
Former Pakistani cricketer Saeed Ajmal has revealed an intriguing incident from his cricketing career, involving Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar. During the iconic ROW XI vs MCC match in 2014 at Lord's, Tendulkar suggested that Ajmal use the "doosra" to dismiss England's Kevin Pietersen. Following this advice, Ajmal successfully bowled Pietersen out using the same technique. The revelation was made by Ajmal at the GloFans High School Cricket Cup launch event in Sharjah and Ajman.
Ajmal's admiration for Tendulkar and joy in dismissing him
Ajmal expressed his deep admiration for Tendulkar, referring to him as "the most honest and kind" cricketer. He stated that dismissing the Master Blaser in an international match was a moment of immense joy for him. "Sachin is a great cricketer. The most honest and kind in the world. He is a legend. I call him Sir," Ajmal said during the event.
Tendulkar's advice leads to Ajmal
Following Tendulkar's advice, Ajmal successfully used the doosra to dismiss Pietersen. He recalled that after he took four wickets in four overs, Tendulkar cautioned him not to finish the match too quickly as there were still six wickets left. "I never got angry. I played with him in a league in 2014. He told me to get Pietersen out by doing 'doosra.' Then I got Pietersen out by doing doosra," Ajmal said during the event.
