French Open: Halep sets up Stephens finale, Nadal in semis
The 2018 French Open has been a fruitful journey so far for both men's and women's World number one players. Romanian Simona Halep, continued her ruthless form to book her spot in finale against Sloane Stephens. Rafael Nadal showed why he is unstoppable at clay after setting up a semi-final encounter against Juan Martin del Potro. Will these two stars go all the way?
Halep outsmarts Spaniard Muguruza
Halep has the chance to land a first Slam title after a smooth 6-1, 6-4 victory against Spanish third-seed Garbine Muguruza. Halep has lost three Slam finals previously that includes two at Paris itself (2014 and 2017). Muguruza, who had swept aside Maria Sharapova in the quarters, was undone by Halep's commanding start. Halep stated that she has to enjoy this victory.
Stephens continues to gain advantage over Keys
It was a familiar sight for Sloane Stephens after a convincing victory against Madison Keys. The 2017 US Open champion had thrashed fellow American Keys in the final to lift the title, and now once again she set the tone. Stephens overcame Keys 6-4, 6-4 and said she was pleased with the victory. Keys couldn't quite come strong, after committing 41 unforced errors.
Nadal in the right zone for unprecedented 11th Slam
10-time French Open champion Nadal came back from behind to beat 11th seed Diego Schwartzman. Rafa, who saw his match being suspended by rain on Day 11, came out fresh the next day to clinch a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 victory. The Spaniard will be up against Juan Martin del Potro, who overcame Marin Cilic 7-6, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 in another delayed quarter-final.
