French Open Day 11 round-up: Know what all happened
The 2018 French Open has reached the final stages and Day 10 of the event saw some sparkling tennis before rain intervened. Garbine Muguruza thrashed two-time champion Maria Sharapova as women's world number one Simona Halep reached the semi-finals. Rafael Nadal saw his match held up by rain. Nadal sees his game called off for the day
Men's world number one and 10-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal was made to sweat for points by Argentina's Diego Schwartzman. Rafa lost the first set 4-6, before taking a lead in the second (5-3). With continuous downpour, the day's play was suspended. Meanwhile, big guns Marin Cilic and Juan Martin del Potro are levelled at 6-6 in the first set of their encounter.
Muguruza floors Maria in quarters
Garbine Muguruza taught Maria Sharapova a lesson at the French Open after a breezy 6-2, 6-1 victory. The 2016 champion dominated from the start and continued in the same manner throughout. Muguruza hasn't dropped even a single set yet in the tournament. The Spaniard stated that she had to bring her best game forward for this big encounter.
Romanian Halep beats Kerber to book semis berth
Two-time finalist Halep overcame German former world number one Angelique Kerber to reach the semis. She came back from a set down to win 6-7, 6-3, 6-2. The 28-year-old Halep will now be up against Muguruza. Meanwhile, 2017 US Open winner Sloane Stephens will be facing Madison Keys in the other semi-final. Stephens had defeated Keys to lift her maiden Slam title.
