Cristiano Ronaldo adds an unwanted record to his name
Cristiano Ronaldo is a pro at breaking records and creating new milestones, but this time he has made a record he would not be proud of at all. He has adjusted well to life at Juventus, and has also become the fastest in Juve's history to reach the 10-goals mark. So what is the unwanted record he has scripted? Find out here.
Champions League goal-drought for CR7
Ronaldo is the best striker in Champions League history but has just managed a single strike in the 2018-19 group stage of the competition. He has never performed so poorly since his last season with Manchester United (2008-09), where he did not score even once in the group stage. His only goal came in Juventus' home match against his former club Manchester United.
How has Ronaldo been performing at Juventus?
Ronaldo was criticized heavily, after his first few matches with Juventus saw the Portuguese marksman failing to score. It was adjudged that he would not be able to replicate his Real Madrid form with the Old Lady, but proving detractors wrong the talismanic forward bounced back to score his first ten goals in sixteen matches. He is currently the second-highest scorer in Serie A.
Ronaldo shines the best post-Christmas
Though Ronaldo has started the season slowly, he can bounce back to his form after Christmas, a factor we have seen even last season. While he was being mocked by detractors, who compared his goals tally to Paulinho, Ronaldo bounced back post-Christmas and ended up becoming the highest scorer in UCL and the second-highest scorer in La Liga.
How are Juventus faring this term?
Juventus are among the favorites to win the Champions League, and despite suffering a loss at the hands of Young Boys in their last group stage fixture, have topped their group and will be facing one from Ajax, Liverpool, Schalke, Lyon, Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid in the round of 16. They are Serie A table-toppers with 43 points, eight above second-placed Napoli.
