Here's why Fiat employees are unhappy over Ronaldo's Juventus transfer
The employees of Fiat, sponsor of Juventus, are unhappy about Cristiano Ronaldo's move to the Serie A champions. Fiat employees are upset after the cash-strapped car manufacturer offered to pay Cristiano Ronaldo's multi-million salary, in order to facilitate his move to Turin. This decision has angered the employees, who have not had a pay rise in 10 years.
Fiat has offered to help facilitate Ronaldo's transfer
Juventus are willing to pay Real Madrid a staggering fee of €100 million. Further, they have offered Ronaldo a four-year contract at €30 mn per season after tax. This deal is likely to have an impact on the pockets of Juventus. Hence, Fiat has offered to take Ronaldo as their brand ambassador and are set to pay a huge amount of the deal.
Fiat chooses CR7 over its employees
"After Higuain, now Cristiano Ronaldo too. It is a disgrace. Fiat workers have not had a pay rise in 10 years. With Cristiano's salary we could give every worker an extra €200 a month." said Gerardo Giannone, an employee of Fiat.
Many still believe it's a massive boost to Italian football
However, not everyone looks at the deal negatively. Former Italy coach Dino Zoff believes Ronaldo's transfer would be a massive boost to Italian football. Italian football hasn't had a superstar for quite some time now and with the 5-time Ballon d'Or winner heading to Italy, it would be a massive coup for the Serie A.
