Ronaldo opens his account for Juventus, scores a brace

    What's the story

After a lot of criticism which came his way when he spent three matches without finding the back of the net, Cristiano Ronaldo has answered his critics in the best way possible.

He netted in twice in the second half as Juventus kept alive their winning streak with a 2-1 victory against Sassuolo.

Douglas Costa, however, might find himself punished by the club.

    Goals

How did the two goals come for Ronaldo?

Ronaldo's first goal came when he tapped in the ball, which was headed by a Sassuolo defender but hit the post and rebounded.

The second goal was scored after a brilliant counter-attacking play by the Turin side.

Ronaldo could have easily scored a hat-trick, last night, but missed two easy chances and was, once, denied by the Sassuolo goal-keeper.

    Ronaldo

    Ronaldo's comments after the goals

When the Portuguese marksman was asked to comment on his first competitive goals for Juventus, he did not hesitate to say how happy he was.

Ronaldo said, "I was a little tense with all the talk after my move from Real Madrid and not scoring, so there were a lot of expectations, but I thank my team-mates for supporting me throughout."

    Douglas Costa

Douglas Costa faces a ban and fine for his actions

Sassuolo's Khouma Babacar netted in one goal for the visitors during stoppage time.

During the build-up to the goal, Douglas Costa was caught head-butting Sassuolo's Federico di Francesco.

On consulting with the VAR, it was found that the Brazilian had spat on Francesco as well.

This despicable action may find Costa facing a lengthy ban from the club as well as Serie A.

    Information

Douglas Costa reminds us of Rijkaard-Voller fiasco

Costa's behavior is reminiscent of one of the most infamous moments, where, during the 1990 World Cup in Italy, Dutch Frank Rijkaard spat on the head of Germany's Rudi Voller after both of them were sent off.
