Happy birthday Rohit Sharma, here're records held by him!
Rohit Gurunath Sharma turns 31 today. The Indian vice-captain, Rohit began his international career aged just 20 when he made his ODI debut against Ireland in June 2007. Fast-forward to today, Rohit is definitely one the greatest ODI players in the history of the sport and his records are a testament to that. Here are some records held by the Hitman.
Rohit is an off-spinner tuned batsman
Rohit Sharma started his career as an off-spinner but became a batsman after his coach Dinesh Lad noticed his batting prowess. Notably, Rohit has an hat-trick in IPL to his name which he achieved while playing for Deccan Chargers. He is the only player to have played four IPL finals and has won all of them, 3 as a captain.
Second highest score in Australia against Australia
On 12 January 2016, Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 171-run knock in an ODI between India and Australia at Perth. This is the second highest score by a visiting batsman against Australia in Australia. The best score was slammed by England's Jason Roy. He scored 180 against Australia at Melbourne in 2018.
Only batsman with 3 ODI double hundreds
Rohit Sharma is the only man, on this planet, to score 3 ODI double hundreds, with his personal best being 264. Needless to say, his 264 is the highest individual score in the history of ODI cricket. Interestingly, if Rohit Sharma was a country, his 264 would be enough to win 1983, 1987, 1992, 1996 and 1999 World Cup finals.
Second Indian to score a ton in WC knock-out stage
Rohit Sharma holds the record for the highest ODI score in Kanpur. He scored an incredible inning of 150-runs on 11 October 2015 against South Africa. After former India captain and opener Sourav Ganguly, Rohit Sharma became the second batsman to score a hundred in the knock out match of the ICC World Cup. He scored 137 against Bangladesh in 2015 World Cup.
Only Indian to score two T20I hundreds
Rohit is the only Indian to score two hundreds in the T20I format. His two centuries came against South Africa and Sri Lanka in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
