Rohit Sharma eyes these records in England ODI series
What's the story
Team India skipper Rohit Sharma is on the cusp of breaking Sachin Tendulkar's esteemed record in ODI cricket.
The upcoming India-England ODI series gives Rohit an opportunity to break the milestone.
Rohit, who last played an ODI in August 2024, is eyeing the 11,000-run mark in the format. He could break Tendulkar's record with this.
As the hosts gear up for the three-match ODI series against England, all eyes are on the Indian skipper.
Record pursuit
Rohit's quest for 11,000 ODI runs
Rohit is only 134 shy of completing 11,000 runs in ODI cricket.
If he manages to do it in his next 19 innings, he will be the second-fastest to do so after Virat Kohli (222 innings).
He would also surpass Tendulkar on the list of fastest batters to achieve the milestone in ODIs. The Master Blaster touched this mark in 276 innings.
Meanwhile, Rohit owns 10,866 from 257 ODI innings so far.
Additional milestone
Rohit eyes 50 international hundreds
Apart from his pursuit of 11,000 ODI runs, Rohit is also closing in on another major milestone.
He needs only two more to complete 50 hundreds in international cricket. He currently has 48 tons and 107 fifties across formats.
If Rohit does, he will become the third Indian after Tendulkar and Kohli to achieve the feat. As per ESPNcricinfo, only nine players have reached this landmark so far.
