Rohit Sharma completes 2,000 ODI runs against Sri Lanka: Stats
Indian captain Rohit Sharma has completed 2,000 runs against Sri Lanka in One-Day Internationals. The 37-year-old reached the landmark in the 3rd ODI currently underway at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Rohit unlocked this achievement with 14th run. As mentioned, Rohit is the fourth Indian with 2,000-plus runs against Sri Lanka in ODI cricket. He is only behind Sachin Tendulkar (3,113), Virat Kohli (2,652), and MS Dhoni (2,383) on this tally. On the overall list, Pakistan's Inzamam-ul-Haq (2,265) and Saeed Anwar (2,198) are the only other batters ahead of Rohit.
His overall record against SL
Rohit fancies taking on Sri Lanka across formats. However, his ODI record against them is top-notch. The Indian batter has scored 2,021 runs against SL in 55 matches at an average of 45.93. He owns six tons and nine half-centuries against the Lankan side. Notably, Rohit also owns two double-centuries against them in the format.
A record-breaking 264 against SL
Rohit holds the record for the highest individual score in ODI cricket. He smashed a record-breaking 264 against Sri Lanka in the 2014 ODI at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Rohit's other double-ton against SL came in 2017 (209* in Mohali).
Fourth-most ODI runs for India
In the 2nd encounter versus the Lankans, Rohit also became India's fourth-highest run-getter in ODI cricket, during the match. He surpassed Dravid, who bid adieu to the format with 10,768 runs. Rohit went past Dravid with his second run in the match. The latter is only behind Tendulkar (18,426), Kohli (13,906), and Sourav Ganguly (11,221) in terms of ODI runs among Indians.
Successive 50s in the ongoing series
Rohit hit a superb 58-run knock in the first ODI against the Lankans. He surpassed 1,000 ODI fours during the contest. In the second ODI, Rohit hit 64 runs. He went past Rahul Dravid to become the 4th-highest scorer for India in ODIs.
