Indian batsmen could script these records in the second T20I
India are in a must-win scenario when they take on Australia in the second T20I in Bengaluru on Wednesday. India will need to win the match in order to level the two-match series at 1-1. Three Indian batsmen are in fray for scripting new feats in T20Is. Australia could script a special record as well. Here are the details.
Virat Kohli could achieve these feats
Indian captain Virat Kohli has scored 2,191 runs in T20Is at an average of 48.68. He needs to score 73 runs on Wednesday in order to surpass Pakistan's Shoaib Malik (2,263). Kohli also needs 82 runs to get past second highest T20I run-scorer Martin Guptill (2,272). The 30-year-old has smashed 48 sixes in T20Is. He needs two to get to the mark of 50.
MS Dhoni could get to 50 sixes in T20Is
MS Dhoni has smashed 49 sixes. He needs one more to achieve the mark of 50 in T20Is. Dhoni alongside Kohli can join the likes of Rohit Sharma (102), Yuvraj Singh (74) and Suresh Raina (58) in terms of scoring 50-plus sixes for India.
Rohit two maximums shy of breaking this record
Rohit will have a chance to create history in T20I cricket. Rohit currently has 102 sixes to his name in T20Is. He is only two short of becoming the leading batsman to hit the most number of sixes. Rohit can surpass New Zealand's Martin Guptill and West Indian Chris Gayle (103 sixes). These three are the only ones to register 100-plus T20I sixes.
A look at Rohit's records in T20Is
Rohit has 2,331 runs in T20Is at an average of 32.37. He has the record for most hundreds (4). The right-handed batsman has also amassed 16 fifties and is second in all-time list behind Kohli (19).
Australia eyeing historical bilateral T20I series win
Meanwhile, Australia, who lead the series 1-0, can clinch their first-ever bilateral T20I series win against India since 2007/08. Australia had sealed the one-match affair held at the MCG. The two sides met in five T20I series since then. India won twice and three series ended in a draw. A defeat for India would see them face third straight loss in T20Is.
