Rohit Sharma has been enjoying the form of his life, across formats. He had a marvelous series against South Africa at home. Having managed to score over 500 runs in three Tests, including a double hundred, Rohit has managed to break into top ten in the ICC Test Rankings. With this feat, he has scripted a unique record. Rohit emulates Kohli and Gautam Gambhir
According to the updated Test rankings by the ICC, Rohit has jumped 12 places to the 10th spot with 722 rating points. In the process, he has scripted a unique feat, as he joined skipper Virat Kohli, along with former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir, to reach top ten across formats. His current ranking is second in ODIs and seventh in T20Is.
Rahane reaches fifth, Mayank Agarwal rises to 18th
As for other Indian batsmen, Ajinkya Rahane, who scored a ton in the series, has risen to the fifth spot, which is also his career-best. Along with him, opener Mayank Agarwal, who had a splendid series, scoring 340 runs, including a century and a double century, has risen to the 18th spot. Kohli, along with Cheteshwar Pujara, is at second and fourth spots respectively.
Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav on the rise
For the Indian bowlers, the third Test saw pacers Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav acting ruthless on a seam friendly pitch. Claiming 13 and 11 wickets each in the series, they have leapfrogged as they are at the 15th and 24th spots, respectively, among the bowlers in the format. Meanwhile, spinner Shahbaz Nadeem has broken into top 100.
George Linde shows activity in the rankings among South Africans
As for South Africans, following the third Test, it was George Linde who is the only one from the nation to have shown positive activity. He rose to the 104th spot among the batsmen, while for his bowling, he is on the 99th spot. Other pacers, Kagiso Rabada and Vernon Philander, maintain their second and eighth spots, respectively, while Lungi Ngidi is at 63rd.
Philander rises to fifth among all-rounders, Jadeja remains on second
Considering the all-round department, there wasn't much activity, as Ravindra Jadeja maintained his second spot, behind Jason Holder of the Windies, while Philander rose to the fifth spot.

Following are the records scripted by Indians in this series: Rohit became the fifth Indian to score two 150+ scores in a series, asides being the fifth Indian opener to score 500+ runs in a series. Nadeem became the fourth India bowler to claim maiden wicket via stumping. Rahane has now scored the second-most Test centuries for India batting at number five (8).
