Robin Uthappa is still eyeing a national comeback
Indian batsman Robin Uthappa believes he still has a lot of cricket left in him, despite being out of action for long. Uthappa, who was an integral part of India's title-clinching World T20 campaign in 2007, asserted that he wants to compete at the international level again. The 34-year-old last represented India in 2015 (in a T20I against Zimbabwe). Here is more.

"I still have that fire burning in me. I honestly believe I have a World Cup left in me, so I'm pursuing that, especially the shortest format. The blessings of Lady Luck or God, whatever you call it, plays a massive role," Uthappa told ESPNcricinfo.
Uthappa burst on to the international arena in 2006
Uthappa made his international debut in an ODI against England in 2006, wherein he smashed 86. His impressive technique fetched him a spot in India's squad for 2007 World Cup. The right-hander further replicated his run in the World T20 later that year. However, a string of low scores and the evolution of Indian batting strength resulted in his ouster.
Uthappa made his final comeback in 2014
Having performed well in the domestic circuit, Uthappa made his comeback in 2011 before getting dropped. He was drafted again in 2014 on the back of his IPL performances. The right-hander won the orange cap that season after racking up 660 runs from 16 innings. Another inconsistent run mowed down his national stints. Overall, Uthappa has scored 1,183 runs in 59 internationals at 25.71.
Uthappa started his career as an opener
Uthappa was tried as an opener during his early days, but later was demoted in the batting order. He has scored 408 runs in 17 ODIs while opening the innings. Besides, Uthappa is looking to prove himself in the middle order. "Opening the batting is something I can do at any point. I'm trying to do well in the middle order," he added.
