What's the story

Bayern Munich legends Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery called curtains on their career with an emphatic Bundesliga triumph. Not just they lifted Bayern's record 29th Bundesliga title, they were also a part of the scoring sheet as a goal each from them helped them rout Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1. Both the men have been part of Bayern's winning run in Bundesliga from 2012 to date.

Bayern hammer Frankfurt to give Robben-Ribery fitting send-off

Bayern played their final game of the season against Frankfurt at home to lift their 29th Bundesliga title. Bayern started off with the opener from Kingsley Coman in the fourth minute, as Frankfurt equalized through Sebastien Haller in the 50th minute. However, Bayern followed it with four consecutive goals from David Alaba (53), Sanches (58), Ribery (72) and Robben (78) to seal the tie.

Ribery, who has been with Bayern for the past 12 years, has enjoyed an immensely successful career with the club, having won the title a record nine times. He was also a part of Bayern's treble in 2012-13, when they won Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and UEFA Champions League, which he termed as the most memorable moment of his career.

Both Robben and Ribery will go down as legends of Bayern Munich. Ribery played a record 424 games for the club, as he scored 124 goals. Further, he won 22 trophies with Bayern. As for Robben, he too has enjoyed an eventful career at the club, scoring 144 goals in 308 games and winning 19 titles.

As the careers of Robben and Ribery come to an end at Bayern, the club will have a tough road ahead. It would be impossible to find suitable replacements for these legends. The author feels while Bayern may still remain a force in Germany and Europe, things won't be the same, as they prepare for life without Robbery.
