Riyan Parag floors Gujarat Titans, hits his fifth IPL fifty
Riyan Parag played a superb knock of 76 versus the Gujarat Titans in match number 24 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season on Wednesday in Jaipur. Parag joined skipper Sanju Samson in the middle when the Royals were 42/2 after 5.4 overs. The two added a stunning 130-run stand for the third wicket thereafter. RR ended up with 196/3 in 20 overs.
Parag makes GT pay
Parag faced 48 balls for his 76 (SR: 158.33). He hit three fours and five sixes. Notably, he was dropped twice by Matthew Wade early on off Rashid Khan's bowling and that proved to be costly. He played his shots and grew in confidence, keeping the scorecard moving alongside Samson, who remained unbeaten on 68. Parag was eventually dismissed by Mohit Sharma.
A third IPL fifty for Parag this season
In the 2024 IPL season, Parag owns 261 runs from five matches at 158.18. He hit his third fifty of the season. The dasher owns 17 fours and 17 sixes (SR: 158.18). Overall in the IPL, Parag has raced to 861 runs in 59 matches at 21.52. He hammered his fifth half-century.
A record stand against the Titans
As mentioned, Samson and Parag added 130 runs for the third wicket. It is now the second-highest stand for the third wicket of the RR in the IPL. Notably, it is the highest stand for any wicket against GT in the IPL.
