Five times Rishabh Pant didn't rise up to the occasion
Rishabh Pant has been facing a lot of flak of late for not quite putting in the performances expected from him. The youngster has failed to live up to the billing in limited-overs cricket both as a batsman and behind the stumps. He also saw Wriddhiman Saha reclaim his place in Test cricket. Here we list five occasions where Pant messed up.
Pant messes up an easy stumping against Bangladesh
In the 2nd T20I against Bangladesh in Rajkot on Thursday, Pant messed up an easy stumping. The incident happened in the sixth over which was bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal. In the third delivery of the over, Chahal decided to flight the ball and foxed Liton Das. Pant collected the ball before it had crossed the stumps despite being quick to dislodge the bails.
Pant's DRS howler against Bangladesh in Delhi
In the first T20I against Bangladesh in Delhi, Pant persuaded Rohit Sharma to take a DRS against left-handed batsman Soumya Sarkar on the last ball of the 10th over. However, Chahal who was bowling looked unconvinced with Pant's appeal. However, Pant seemed confident of a caught behind chance. DRS review showed a line graph without any spikes as the ball went past the willow.

Pant not quite in sync with LBW and DRS
In the same match and the same over, Mushfiqur Rahim was trapped LBW by Chahal. The Indian cricket team did not review the decision when the umpire turned down the appeal. Pant looked confused and didn't convince Rohit and Chahal to go for the review. Rahim went on to play a powerful knock and helped Bangladesh win the match.
Pant runs himself out against Australia
Against Australia in the first T20I in Vizag earlier this year, India were 80/2 in the 10th over. Pant, who was new at the crease, skipped down the track and ran straightaway even before the ball had beaten the diving fielder. Peter Handscomb gathered the ball to the keeper to find Pant short. Pant was out for three and India failed to get going.
Pant spills an easy catch of Shaun Marsh
In India's tour of Australia in 2018-19, Pant dropped a sitter of Shaun Marsh in the second Test. It was during the 67th over when Hanuma Vihari was bowling. Marsh edged it to the wicket-keeper and the ball went to Pant's gloves before he juggled and dropped the southpaw. Marsh was batting on a score of 24 and went on to amass 45 runs.
