Rishabh Pant has maintained his vigour and intensity in Test cricket after being handed his debut against England in the third Test in August. It all started at the Oval in the fifth Test, where Pant scored a magnificent ton. The youngster continued in sublime fashion against West Indies in the two-match series. Pant surpasses MSD in runs scored after five Tests
The dashing wicket-keeper batsman has 346 runs under his belt after just five Test matches. Pant, who is expected to be the next big thing in Indian cricket, surpassed the legendary Dhoni. MSD had scored 297 runs in his first five career Tests. Pant now has the most number of runs, by an Indian wicket-keeper, after five Tests.
Pant and Shaw steal the show in the home series
The biggest positive point for India was the match-winning performances by the two youngsters. 18-year-old debutant Prithvi Shaw was terrific and smashed several records with the bat. And Pant too showed his prowess with the bat hitting twin knocks of 92 across the two matches. In his 5-Test career, Pant has already amassed a hundred and two fifties.
Pant's selection has augured well for India
Pant has taken the responsibility well in adding a voice in the middle order. A natural top order batsman- Pant has adjusted well in Tests in an unfamiliar position. Things look positive for Pant, who started his Test career with a six.
Pant joins Dravid in this list
Pant, who managed two successive scores of 92, joined former India captain Rahul Dravid in this unique list. Pant became only the second Indian to get out in the 90s in successive Test innings. The legendary Rahul was dismissed for 92 and 93 against Sri Lanka in the year 1997.
