Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata Knight Riders cricketer Rinku Singh has landed into trouble. The left-handed batsman has been handed a three-month suspension by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Rinku was suspended for taking part in an unauthorized T20 tournament in Abu Dhabi. The ban will be effective from June 1. Here is more on the same.
Rinku withdrawn from India A squad
Rinku's action has led to him being withdrawn from the India A squad. They are set to play against Sri Lanka A starting on Friday. The Kolkata Knight Riders player did not seek the board's permission for participating in the tournament in Abu Dhabi. With this, he violated the rules and regulations of the board. It's a big blow for the Uttar Pradesh cricketer.
BCCI shows zero tolerance for breaking rules
As per the rules set by the BCCI, no player can take part in any tournament abroad without its permission. The board followed its protocol and suspended Rinku for three months. "The BCCI will not tolerate such violations in the future and strict actions will be taken if a player is found violating the BCCI rules and regulations," the BCCI said.
A look at Rinku's career
Rinku is a promising young cricketer and has featured for KKR in the last two seasons of the Indian Premier League. The 21-year-old has made a strong start to his career. In 19 first-class matches, he has scored 1,645 runs at an average of 71.52. Rinku has amassed five tons for UP. He also has a decent average of 43.05 in List A cricket.
Rinku led Deccan Gladiators to Abu Dhabi title
Rinku played a crucial role for his team Deccan Gladiators and led them to the Ramadan T20 Cup trophy. The southpaw smashed a brilliant 104-run knock, besides taking two wickets. Gladiators beat New Medical Centre by 31 runs. Rinku hit nine sixes and six fours.
