Kohli becomes the 13th Indian player to play 200 ODIs
Today, as Virat Kohli stepped into the ground, he achieved yet another feat by becoming only the 13th Indian to feature in 200 ODIs. In 191 innings from 199 matches, he has slammed 30 tons till now. Virat holds the joint-second record of most ODI centuries along with Ricky Ponting. He is behind Sachin Tendulkar who hit 49 centuries in his 24-year long career.
ODI career stats
Kohli has played 191 innings from 199 ODI matches, and has scored 8767 runs at an average of 55.14. Kohli has hit 30 tons and 45 half-centuries, with the highest score of 183.
Kohli has scored the fastest century by an Indian
In an ODI against Australia at Jaipur, Virat Kohli hit the fastest century by an Indian, reaching 100 runs in just 52 balls. He went past Virender Sehwag, who had scored the century in 60 deliveries. Kohli also holds the record of scoring India's third fastest century in 61 balls, which also came against Australia in the same series.
Highest number of centuries while chasing in ODIs
Kohli has been emulating the Master Blaster's records right and left ever since he made his mark in international cricket. The 28-year-old recently broke Tendulkar's record of most centuries while chasing in ODIs, when he brought up his 28th century against West Indies in July this year. It was his 18th century while chasing, thus surpassing Tendulkar's 17.
Fastest to reach 8000 runs
When it comes to limited overs cricket, Kohli's run-scoring feats are second to none. And, when he became the fastest batsman to score 8000 runs in ODIs, in only 175 innings (183 matches), it did not come as a surprise. The previous record was held by AB De Villiers from 182 innings but there was never a doubt that Kohli would break it.
Second batsman to score 1000-plus runs for four consecutive years
Kohli has been India's highest run-scorer in the ODIs every year since 2010. Apart from that, he is also the second batsman in the world to hold the record of scoring 1000 or more runs in a calendar year for four consecutive years (2011, 2012, 213 and 2014). Sri Lanka's former captain Kumar Sangakkara is the only other player to achieve the feat.
Fastest to score 1000 runs as ODI Captain
With Kohli taking only 17 innings to reach 1000 runs, he is the fastest captain to do so as an ODI captain, beating South Africa's AB de Villiers, who took 18 innings to achieve the same.
