#GamingBytes: This 'GoT' video game doesn't require a gaming PC
Here's good news for Game of Thrones fans. If you want to play as your favorite character in a faithful adaptation of the show, you can check out the now-released game, Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming. It's the officially licensed GoT game that doesn't require a gaming PC or console. If you have an Internet browser, you're good to go! Here's our review.
Put together an army or create your own kingdom
Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming has multiple quests that one has to complete in order to unlock new characters or commanders. If one completes the required quests, they can unlock (and play as) popular characters like Tyrion or Daenerys. Every character has unique upgradable strengths and abilities. Players can also train armies, customize castles and participate in online player vs player battles.
A vast in-game universe makes the game exciting
It has elements of an RPG as well as a traditional strategy game. The game faithfully adapts the HBO series and features key moments from the TV show as well as a number of characters that players can interact with. Exclusive storylines can be unlocked by playing missions against bandits and assassins. The more quests you complete, the more you understand the game.
Much better than your usual browser-based games
Developed by YOOZOO Games, Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming is officially licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment under license from HBO. With impressive graphics (as far as browser games are concerned) and immersive gameplay, the game is deeper than other similar games. As per reports, a smartphone version in collaboration with Tencent is also slated for release in the upcoming months.
'Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming' starts after Ned's death
The game does not cover the story from the beginning and starts after Ned Stark's death with the player becoming the new lord of Westeros. From there, the goal is to be as close as possible to the Iron Throne and accumulate money, skills, and influence on the way. Tip: You should play as Jon Snow or Tormund Giantsbane. Both have great, upgradable skills.
Here's how you can start your own Westerosi adventure
The game is easy to start. There is no downloading or installation involved. All you have to do is visit the website and sign up by creating a GT Arcade account. Google or Facebook accounts can be used as well. After a successful sign-in, you can either continue playing in the browser or download the desktop app (I'd recommend the latter).
