#GamingBytes: New 'Game of Thrones' video game announced
'Reigns' is a strategy video game by Nerial. There's also a sequel called 'Reigns: Her Majesty'. Interestingly, there is a new addition to this series. Game of Thrones, one of television's most popular shows, has been made into a Reigns video game. It is expected to be available from October. However, you can pre-order on Steam, iOS and Google Store. The game costs $3.99.
Reigns took to Twitter to make the announcement
How do you 'reign' over a kingdom?
The gameplay is simple. A series of tough choices drives the game forward. Players start off as a ruler and the reign ends when they die. The best way to rule longer is to strike a balance between four power factions. The factions are the church, people, wealth and military. Their decisions will have consequences and players often face violent ends.
What's special about Game of Thrones?
'Reigns: Game of Thrones' is a cross between Tinder and a Reigns game. Players swipe left or right to make decisions. Players can select their favorite characters like Sansa, Cersei, Jon Snow, and Tyrion. They can also unlock special features. For instance, Tyrion can talk his way out of debts with the Iron Bank, so players will not lose even if wealth drops considerably.
A different path to walk on
Instead of just binary options, this game has a branching narrative. This makes the story more expansive. More importantly, it has the option of exploring alternative futures through Melisandre's prophecies. This lets players see how Westeros would have been shaped if key events were changed.
