India registered their second consecutive win against Australia, taking a 2-0 lead in the five-match ODI series. Kuldeep's hat-trick, the talking point
The big match highlight has been Kuldeep Yadav's hat-trick. Taking out Matthew Wade, Ashton Agar, and Pat Cummins, Yadav claimed his maiden hat-trick, a turning point in the match which remained competitive until then. Further, this is only the third ODI hat-trick for India after Chetan Sharma's feat against New Zealand in 1987, and Kapil Dev's achievement against Sri Lanka in 1991.

India set to become World No.1 in ODI rankings
After the ODI win at Kolkata, Indian team is now the World No.1 in ICC ODI rankings, overtaking South Africa. Before the series began, India and Australia had 117 points each. After the Chennai ODI victory India gained a point to claim 118. With the 2nd ODI win India will be tied with South Africa at 119 but will go on top on decimal points.
