English Premier League 2018-19: All records broken on match-day 21
Match-day 21 of the English Premier League ended last night barring one fixture, Manchester City vs Liverpool, which is scheduled for tonight. Chelsea were held to a draw by Southampton while Manchester United won their match against Newcastle United. Arsenal thrashed Fulham 4-1, and Tottenham, too, won 3-0 against Cardiff. Here are the major records broken.
Arsenal were too hot for Fulham to handle
Ramsey came off the bench for Arsenal to score, marking Arsenal's 10th goal from substitutes this season - more than any other team. Claudio Ranieri, Fulham's manager, has never won a single match against the Gunners in the 11 fixtures he has faced them. Arsenal's defensive frailty shows with the fact that they have registered just a single clean sheet in 14 EPL matches.
Cardiff City were thrashed by Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham have not drawn a single EPL match this season, making it the ninth time in top-flight football when a club has done so after 21 matches. In their matches against the Big Six teams, Cardiff have conceded 25 goals, the highest among all Premier League clubs. Harry Kane's goal saw him score against all the opponents he has ever faced in the EPL.
Chelsea fail to overcome their Southampton hurdle
Cesc Fabregas made his 500th appearance for an English side in all competitions. Chelsea have failed to score in three of their last five EPL home matches - as many as in their previous 22 EPL home matches. Southampton have drawn 0-0 on nine occasions since the start of last season, two more than any other club. Southampton have registered only four wins in their 20 visits to Stamford Bridge.
Newcastle United was Solskjaer's toughest test so far
Newcastle have now lost eight of their 11 EPL home matches this season. Newcastle have seen a single victory in their last eight EPL matches. Since April 2018, this is the first time when Manchester United have won four consecutive matches. Solskjaer is also the only United manager apart from Matt Busby to win his first four league games in charge of the club.
