Asian Games 2018: India thrash Hong Kong 26-0, script history
After winning 17-0 in their opening encounter at the ongoing Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia, the India men's hockey team created a record by beating Hong Kong 26-0. The side registered its biggest ever victory in the history of the game. India's previous best record was a 24-1 victory against USA at the 1932 Olympics. Here is more on the same.
Plethora of records for the Indian team
After beating Indonesia 17-0 earlier, India had equaled Pakistan's record of maximum goals scored at the Asian Games. India's previous best wins, in Asiad, were 12-0 over Iran in 1974 and Bangladesh in 1982. With this win, India have now set the Asian Games record as well. It took the side 86 years to break their own world record and create a new one.

Rupinder Pal Singh was the top scorer for India with 5 goals. HarManpreet Singh scored an emphatic 4 goals, with Akashdeep Singh too claiming a hat-trick. Manpreet Singh, Lalit Upadhyay and Varun Kumar scored a brace each. The other scorers for India were SV Sunil, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Mandeep Singh, Amit Rohidas, Dilpreet Singh, Chinglensana Singh, Simranjeet Singh and Surender Kumar.
