Real Madrid beat PSG 2-1 to reach quarters
Two-time holders and 12 time champions Real Madrid progressed to the last eight of the UEFA Champions League after seeing off Paris Saint-Germain. After a 3-1 win in the first leg at home, Real overcame 10-man PSG 2-1 at the Parc des Princess to notch a 5-2 aggregate. Here are the key moments from the Round of 16 second leg encounter in Paris.
Ronaldo a big match player
Cristiano Ronaldo scored the opening goal of the night to hit his 12th in this campaign. After bagging two goals in the first leg, the Portuguese headed in Lucas Vazquez's cross to give his side the impetus. This was CR7's 118th goal in Champions League and 102nd alone for Los Blancos. He became the 2nd player to score in nine successive Champions League games.
Controversy involving Ronaldo
Ronaldo could have been booked or even sent off in the 16th minute after kicking out at Dani Alves. The Brazilian shoved Ronaldo to take the ball after the former was adjudged off-side and officials did not punish CR7 for his reaction.
How the match shaped up
The first goal came in the 55th minute as Ronaldo opened the scoring. PSG saw midfielder Marco Verratti sent off in the 66th minute after being yellow carded for the second time in the match. Uruguayan Edinson Cavani pulled one back for the hosts to make it 1-1. Moments later Casemiro's deflected shot saw the ball into the net and PSG's fate was sealed.

Real have reached the quarter-final for the eighth successive time in the Champions League. They have also been in the semi-final 7 times in a row during this period besides winning the title thrice in 2014, 2016 and 2017 respectively.
