IPL 2019: RCB beat KXIP, here are the records broken
What's the story
Royal Challengers Bangalore registered their maiden victory in the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019.
The Virat Kohli-led side beat Kings XI Punjab in Mohali in an entertaining encounter.
KXIP were restricted for 173/4, despite a fine 99* from Chris Gayle.
In reply, RCB chased down the target with skipper Kohli taking charge.

Gayle registers a host of feats
Gayle became the fourth player in IPL 2019 to surpass the 300-run mark in IPL.
He is also the second batsman from KXIP to get past the feat.
Gayle now has 23 sixes in IPL 12. Only Andre Russell (29) is ahead of him.
The southpaw registered his third fifty in IPL 12.
This was also his 17th career IPL fifty.

Gayle is second player in IPL to remain 99*
Gayle became the first player to score 100 fifty-plus scores in T20 cricket.
He also became only the second batsman to register an unbeaten 99 in IPL.
Chennai's Suresh Raina had scored 99* versus SRH in Hyderabad, 2013.
The West Indian hit 10 fours and five sixes.
He extended his career IPL sixes to 315.

Gayle surpasses these players in terms of career IPL runs
Gayle now has 4,316 runs in the IPL. He went past the likes of Gautam Gambhir (4,217), MS Dhoni (4,230) and Shikhar Dhawan (4,307).

Kohli registers 36th career IPL fifty and other stats
Yuzvendra Chahal (2/33) now has 11 wickets in IPL 12.
Only Kagiso Rabada (13) is above him in the list.
Kohli scored his second fifty this season.
The 30-year-old now has 36 career IPL fifties to his name.
He equalled Gambhir in terms of IPL career fifties (36) and went past Raina (35).

How did the match pan out?
KXIP got off to a strong start with Gayle and KL Rahul adding 66 for the first wicket.
RCB bowlers hit back to leave KXIP reeling at 113/4.
Gayle found company in the form of Mandeep Singh (18*).
They added 60 runs.
RCB started off on a positive note with Virat Kohli leading the way alongside AB de Villiers.
