IPL 2018: When Virat Kohli's bat brought luck for Rayudu
Ambati Rayudu is one Indian cricketer who believes in superstitions. And the batsman thinks that taking one of Virat Kohli's bat every year brings him luck and prosperity. Interestingly, if we analyze Rayudu's performance in 2018 IPL, it looks like his superstition has paid dividends. The Chennai Super Kings player thrived in 11th edition to help his side lift the coveted trophy.
When Rayudu revealed the secret to Bhajji
Harbhajan Singh has started a new talk show on YouTube called 'Quick Heal Bhajji Blast' and that's where Rayudu revealed this secret of him being superstitious. He stated that every year he takes a bat from skipper Kohli and now Indian skipper knows that he wants to show off this prized possession. Rayudu had an excellent campaign in 2018 and got a national call-up.
A season that defined Rayudu's brilliance
He amassed 602 runs in 16 matches for CSK at an average of 43.00. The former Mumbai Indians player hit three fifties and a ton to show his mettle. The versatility in him as an opener and a middle-order batsman spoke volumes. Rayudu was the fourth highest run-getter besides smashing 53 fours and 32 sixes. He hit the winning runs in the finale.
Kohli's bat indeed a lucky charm
Rayudu and Harbhajan joined Rohit Sharma in lifting four IPL titles and are the only 3 players to achieve this. Rayudu represented MI from 2010 to 2017 and won three titles there besides scoring 2,416 runs. He chipped in with the bat on numerous occasions for MI but had a dismal season in 2017. 2018 was indeed special for Rayudu; thanks to Kohli's bat.
