Shastri to get Rs. 7.5cr salary, wants Tendulkar as batting-consultant
The newly appointed cricket coach Ravi Shastri will receive Rs. 7.5 crore annually as remuneration. Reportedly, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has agreed to Shastri's condition of enhanced annual pay package. Shastri will receive Rs 1.25 crore more than his predecessor Anil Kumble. He has also asked for Sachin Tendulkar to be appointed as the the batting consultant for overseas tours.
Shastri demands more?
Reportedly, during Shastri's meeting with BCCI secretary, CEO and president, and Committee of Administrators (CoA) member Diana Edulji, Shastri had demanded Rs 7.75 crore as his annual salary. However, after the negotiations, the amount was settled to Rs 7.5 crore.
Support staff gets a hike too
Ravi Shastri's support staff of the bowling, batting and fielding coach has also been given a fee hike. Shastri's assistant Sanjay Bangar will receive Rs. 2.2 crore annually, while the new bowling coach Bharath Arun will get Rs. 2 crore per year. Reportedly, Shastri has been given a hike keeping in mind that he is giving up his commentary job and all media commitments.
Sachin Tendulkar as batting consultant?
Ravi Shastri has also spoken about having Sachin Tendulkar as a batting consultant for the Indian team for overseas tours. However, BCCI's Cricket Advisory Committee, of which Tendulkar is an integral part, had already appointed Rahul Dravid for the same job.
