Rashid Khan becomes fastest to 100 ODI wickets
One man has been instrumental in Afghanistan's steep rise in the world of cricket, Rashid Khan. The teenage leg-spinner, Rashid Khan became the fastest bowler to reach the 100-wicket milestone in ODIs. He reached it in 44 matches. Rashid achieved the feat when he dismissed West Indies batsman Shai Hope in the final of the ICC World Cup Qualifier in Harare on Sunday.
Rashid Khan breaks Mitchell Starc's record
Rashid Khan eclipsed the record held by Australian speedster Mitchell Starc. Starc took 52 matches to get to the three-figure mark. Rashid's rise, in the last year, has been meteoric, considering the fact that he was the 8th joint fastest to 50 wickets in ODIs. He claimed his last 50 wickets in just 18 matches.
Rashid averages 14.39 in ODIs
Rashid Khan currently averages 14.39 per wicket and boasts a strike rate around 21.8 balls per wicket in ODIs. This is the best among all bowlers who have bowled at least 1,000 deliveries. Since Afghanistan have hardly played any big nations, Rashid has 40 wickets against Zimbabwe and 33 against Ireland. His career best performance is 7/18 came against West Indies in 2017.

Rashid is currently the number two ranked ODI bowler in the world. He has played an important role in Afghan's team promotion to a full member nation from an associate level team. Afghanistan have already sealed their place at the 2019 ICC World Cup and will also play their first Test match against India in June.
