Ranji Trophy: Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube return to Mumbai's squad
What's the story
Star Indian batters Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube have been picked for Mumbai's quarter-final match against Haryana in the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy. The match will be played from February 8 in Lahli.
This is a big return for both players who have played little First-Class cricket of late.
Both Suryakumar and Dube featured for India in the recently-concluded T20I series against England at home.
Recent form
Yadav and Dube's recent performances
SKY, who is also India's T20I captain, recently led the side to a 4-1 series win against England at home. However, his own performance was underwhelming with a mere 28 runs in five innings.
Meanwhile, Dube shone in the same series against England, scoring 53 off 34 balls in the 4th T20I. He also put up an all-round show in the 5th match with 30 runs off 13 balls and two wickets for just 11 runs.
Team progress
Mumbai's journey to the quarter-finals
Ranji Trophy defending champions, Mumbai, led by Ajinkya Rahane, booked their quarter-finals berth after thrashing Meghalaya by an innings.
The win was much-needed for the side after they lost to Jammu & Kashmir by five wickets.
They will now face Group C toppers Haryana at the Chaudhary Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli.
Squad update
New additions to Mumbai's squad
Apart from Yadav and Dube, Harsh Tanna has also been added to Mumbai's squad for the upcoming match.
Tanna is yet to make his First-Class debut but has already played four List A matches.
The rest of the team comprises seasoned players like Rahane, Siddhesh Lad, and Shardul Thakur among other, who will be eyeing a strong performance against Haryana.
