What's the story
Madhya Pradesh have set a new record in the Ranji Trophy, posting their highest-ever team total in the tournament's history.
The milestone was achieved in the match against Uttar Pradesh at Indore's Holkar Stadium.

MP's previous attempts and key contributors
The road to this record has seen Madhya Pradesh come close before, with a score of 616/10, against Bihar in November 2024.
Meanwhile, the key contributors to the new record were opener Harsh Gawli and captain Shubham Sharma.
Notably, Gawli scored a remarkable 258 runs off 387 balls (25 fours and four sixes), while Sharma contributed an equally impressive 208 off 280 deliveries smashing 18 boundaries and one maximum.

Gawali and Sharma's partnership sets another record
Double-centurions Gawli and Sharma also set a new record for Madhya Pradesh, as far as partnerships are concerned.
The duo added 373 runs for the second wicket in 542 deliveries, registering the highest second-wicket partnership for their team in Ranji Trophy history.
This further highlights their contribution to Madhya Pradesh's record-breaking total.
