    What's the story

Rain has become a major source of concern in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019.

After the tournament got off to a strong start, rain has played spoilsport as two matches have already been washed out.

And India could face a similar fate when they take on New Zealand in match number 18.

    Here is more.

    Rainfall

Heavy rainfall expected in Nottingham this week

The Indian team faces the Kiwis at Trent Bridge on Thursday.

Reports claim that heavy rainfall is expected in Nottingham until Wednesday evening and could subside by afternoon on Thursday.

So there is still a possibility of a curtailed encounter.

According to a report in Nottingham Post, rainfall is expected through out this week in that area.

    Information

The Met office has issued a warning

The Met office issued a warning on its website that covered a large area of England, including Birmingham, Peterborough and Newcastle. "There is a chance that heavy prolonged rain could lead to localised flooding and disruption to transport," it said.

    Washed out

Two matches have already been washed out

So far, two matches have been washed out by rain.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka saw their match getting abandoned due to constant rain and damp outfield.

The match was supposed to take place in Bristol.

South Africa and the West Indies then saw their match at Rose Bowl in Southampton get washed out as well.

Only 45 balls of cricket was possible.

    Information

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka's affair at Bristol yet to start

The other day, Afghanistan and New Zealand saw their game start later than the usual time. Although, they were lucky that a match took place. Today, the match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at Bristol hasn't yet started. The umpires are currently inspecting the conditions.

    IND vs NZ

WC 2019 Where and New Zealand and India placed?

New Zealand are currently atop of the 2019 World Cup table. They have six points from three matches.

Meanwhile, India have four points from two games.

They are third in the standings with a NRR of +0.539.

Both teams have shown top form so far and one will hope that rain stays away on Thursday.

Fans will be keeping their fingers crossed.
