Dravid is no stranger to the RR camp
Dravid is no stranger to the RR camp, having represented the team as a player from 2011 to 2013. He also served as a mentor for the franchise in 2014. His appointment comes ahead of the IPL 2025 season and follows a period where RR operated without a dedicated head coach during the 2024 edition.
Dravid's experience will help RR
Before his stint as the Indian cricket team head coach, Dravid coached the U-19 and India A teams. He later served as the Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Dravid will now look to build a successful side. RR get someone so vastly experienced in the form of Dravid. It's now about getting things into place on the field.
Sangakkara was Director of Cricket for RR
Dravid will be stepping into the shoes of Kumar Sangakkara, who served as the Director of Cricket for RR. Despite this change, Sangakkara will continue his association with the franchise by managing their other teams in different leagues. The team has high hopes from Dravid to lead them to an IPL title, something they haven't achieved since their inaugural victory in 2008.
