Rahmat Shah confident ahead of Afghanistan's maiden Test against NZ
Afghanistan's star batter, Rahmat Shah, has expressed confidence in his team's ability to challenge New Zealand in the upcoming one-off Test match. The game is scheduled to take place at the Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground from September 9. This will be Afghanistan's first encounter against New Zealand in Test cricket. Despite the significant difference in experience between both teams, Shah remains optimistic about Afghanistan's chances of success.
Shah aims to leverage home advantage in upcoming Test
The upcoming Test match will be held in Greater Noida, a venue where Afghanistan has previously hosted six T20Is and five ODIs. Shah believes that this familiarity with the ground could work to their advantage. "This Test is important. We have got only one Test match against them. We will try to give them a tough time," Shah told Cricbuzz.
Shah highlights Afghanistan's preparation for the Test
Shah highlighted Afghanistan's thorough preparation for the match against New Zealand, who are the inaugural ICC World Test Championship winners. He told Cricbuzz, "They have won the ICC Test Championship and we tried to have the best of preparations and we are looking forward to the challenge that is lying ahead." He also emphasized on their past experience in India as a potential advantage.
Shah's technical adjustments contribute to his success
Shah, who is Afghanistan's leading run-scorer in ODIs and Test cricket, attributed his success to certain technical adjustments he made in his game. He explained, "I just tried to concentrate more and practice more (to make some technical adjustments). Earlier my shoulder used to get open and I tried to make it sideways and tried to straighten my alignment."
