Manchester City's Raheem Sterling racially attacked
Greater Manchester Police are currently investigating an alleged racial attack on Manchester City's forward Raheem Sterling. The Telegraph reported that the Englishman was racially abused and assaulted by a man on Saturday ahead of City's high octane fixture against Tottenham Hotspur. However, Manchester City are yet to comment on the incident.
Manchester police to investigate the incident
"Police were made aware that a 23-year-old man had been subject to a racially aggravated assault on Clayton Lane on 16 December. While an official report has not yet been made, enquiries will be carried out and officers are treating it as a hate crime."
Kicked and racially abused
As per the reports, Sterling was racially abused by a man who was waiting for him outside Manchester City's training ground on Saturday. The England star arrived in his car and the man began to abuse him. When Sterling got down from the car, it is understood that the man kicked the 23-year old multiple times in the leg.
Fortunately, Sterling was not injured
The incident was caught on CCTV cameras outside the training ground and will force a review of the club's security aground the training base. Despite the attack, the fleet footed England footballer was not injured and later went on to score twice against Tottenham, extending City's winning streak to a record 16 games.
