List of all records broken by Nadal at French Open
Rafael Nadal reached the final of the 2018 French Open after beating Argentine Juan Martin del Potro. Nadal won his tie in straight sets with a 6-4, 6-1, 6-2 victory. The Spaniard, who has dropped only a single set this entire campaign, beat the Argentine in just over two hours. Here we look at the records broken by the 32-year-old at French Open.
Rafa eyes 11th French Open title
Rafa is the only player, after Roger Federer, to reach the final of the same Slam eleven times. Till now, Nadal has won all of his 10 French Open finals. He won the first title here in 2005. The player has lost only 2 out of 87 matches in French Open. He has the maximum number of titles (10) in a single Grand Slam.
He is called the King of Clay for a reason
Nadal won 37 straight sets in a row at 2018 French Open as he surpassed his previous best of 32. Diego Schwartzman stopped him from reaching Bjorn Borg's all-time record (41). Since his debut in 2005 here, he has missed out on the title on only two occasions- 2009 and 2016. He has a total of 50+ title wins on clay.
Rafa eyes more domination in Slams
If Nadal wins on Sunday then it would be his 17th Grand Slam title. Only Federer has more, with 20 under his belt. Nadal is the third men's player to win a Slam title in his teens, 20s and 30s. This could be the sixth Slam in a row since 2017, won by either Federer or Nadal. Federer has won three to Rafa's two.
