Rabada's delivery to Russell is 'ball of the IPL': Ganguly
Kagiso Rabada was on fire for Delhi Capitals in the Super Over against Kolkata Knight Riders. He helped his side win the match after Kuldeep Yadav forced the match into Super Over. The South African pacer was accurate with his yorkers and helped DC defend the total. Legend Sourav Ganguly termed Rabada's delivery to Andre Russell as the 'ball of the century'.
Rabada's strategy in the Super Over
KKR went to bat in the Super Over after Prasidh Krishna bowled well and conceded just 10 runs that included the wicket of Shreyas Iyer. Rabada was smashed for a boundary off the first ball, but he came back strongly. Russell saw his middle stump get uprooted with a fast in-swinging yorker from Rabada. Three more yorkers followed as KKR fell short.
Dada amazed with what he saw
"Kagiso Rabada's Super Over and the ball that he bowled to Andre Russell is probably going to be the ball of the IPL. To bowl that kind of a delivery to Russell, who is probably in the form of his life, is unbelievable," Ganguly said.
A thrilling affair at the Kotla
Batting first, KKR posted 185/8 after Russell smashed a 28-ball 62. In reply, DC led the charge with Prithvi Shaw dictating the proceedings. They had the game under control, but a glory shot by Shaw, who was on 99, saw KKR get his wicket and script a comeback. DC needed two from one ball and a run-out forced the match into a Super Over.
'These sorts of wins change the confidence'
"This team needed this win. They did not have a great season last year. It's a young team. These sorts of wins change the confidence. It is still a long season, but this win is more than just a win," Ganguly added.
A lot of excitement surrounds DC this season: Our take
A lot of excitement awaits this DC side. After years of poor performance, the outfit looks balanced this year and has a great mixture of youth and experience. The batting of DC stands out with variety on offer. Bowlers like Rabada, Trent Boult and Amit Mishra have bags of experience and quality. DC could do really well this season.
