R Ashwin becomes second-highest wicket-taker in Asia (Tests)
Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has become the second-highest wicket-taker in Asia in Test cricket. Ashwin reached the landmark on Day 1 of the 2nd Test against Bangladesh at Green Park, Kanpur. He dismissed Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and went past Anil Kumble in terms of Test wickets in Asia. Ashwin took his 420th Test scalp in this regard.
Ashwin goes past Kumble
By taking his 420th Test wicket in Asia, Ashwin went past the legendary Anil Kumble. The veteran leg-spinner took 419 Test scalps in this regard in his illustrious career. Ashwin is only behind Sri Lanka's Muthiah Muralidaran, who has a record 612 Test wickets in Asia. Only two other players have 300+ such wickets - Rangana Herath (354) and Harbhajan Singh (300).

Eighth-most wickets in Tests
Ashwin broke a plethora of records with his second-innings six-fer in the Chennai Test. He accomplished his 37th fifer, now the joint second-most in Test cricket along with Shane Warne. Ashwin also went past the legendary Courtney Walsh (519) in terms of Test wickets. He is currently the eighth-highest wicket-taker in the longest format, with over 520 scalps.
