All England Open: Yamaguchi beats Sindhu in semi-final
PV Sindhu, who was India's last hope in All England Open, lost the semi-final against Akane Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi beat Sindhu 19-21, 21-19, 21-18 to reach the final of the prestigious tournament. Sindhu, who beat 2016 champion Nozomi Okuhara in the quarters, could not repeat the feat in a closely fought encounter. This is Sindhu's best performance till date in All England Open.
Sindhu goes out fighting
After winning the first game, Sindhu hung on to provide a decent fight against Yamaguchi. In both the next games, she fought hard to stay in the hunt, but the Japanese stood tall to win the tie. This was Sindhu's fourth back-to-back three-game match.
Yamaguchi will face Tai Tzu-ying in the final
World number 2 Yamaguchi will now face the numero uno Tai Tzu-ying in the final of All England Open on Sunday. Tai is the defending champion and has won 5 out of 10 encounters against Yamaguchi.
