#GamingBytes: Five tips for snipers in PUBG
PUBG or PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds brings a realistic military and tactical experience to the popular Battle Royale format of gaming. Players can claim their chicken dinner by besting opponents in solos, duos or squads. To do this, they must choose guns which suit their playstyle. However, there are tricks to making the best use of these guns. We bring you 5 tips for PUBG snipers.
The long range killers on PUBG
PUBG has three sniper rifles, the AWM which is available at air drops, the M24, and the Kar98. Snipers are usually bolt action rifles, so if you miss your first shot it takes time to line up another. It's best to hold, aim and fire.
Get your necessary attachments
A sniper is useless without attachments, most important is the scope. Without a scope, the basic long-range functionality of a sniper is rendered useless. Opt for 8x or 15x scopes. Lower range scopes work as well, but shots are more inaccurate. Fix a suppressor, a cheek pad for stealth and stability. Finally, get an extended quick-draw magazine. Your gun is now ready for killing.
Sniping is a test of sight, skill and patience
Once your sniper is ready for action, don't run around looking for enemies. Snipers are no good if enemies pop up at mid to close ranges. Instead, make your way to high-risk areas, take a vantage point, and start shooting enemies. Do not shoot a target while you are moving. Snipers, inevitably, miss if the shooter is moving. Hold your breath and fire.
What about the position?
Body position is absolutely crucial while sniping. The stability of the gun determines the accuracy of the shot. Going prone is the best way to snipe in terms of stability. However, prone restricts movement and leaves players vulnerable to ambushes. We suggest crouching. This makes shooting more stable while keeping snipers mobile enough to deal with surprise attacks.
Account for bullet drop and enemy movement
Accounting for bullet drop and target movement is crucial for sniping. The best way to avoid bullet drop is having the target's head in your cross-hairs. In case of bullet drops, you will manage a body shot. For a moving target, turn your cross-hairs in the target's running direction. Fire a little ahead. The bullet covers the distance in time and hits the target.
Master the art of quick scoping
This tip is for intermediaries looking to become pro gamers. We don't expect newcomers to become masters of quick scoping. With practice, you can master the art of quickly spotting an enemy and immediately lining up your sniper rifle to fire. This is essentially the entire sniping process sped up. If you can quick scope in PUBG, you will be a formidable enemy.
The invisible hand of death
If you are a real pro try picking up a Ghillie Suit from the airdrops. These will camouflage you, according to your environment. Take cover, go prone, become invisible. Then pick off your enemies one by one to win your chicken dinner.
