#GamingBytes: Is PUBG releasing a new Venice-based map?
Last year, the gaming community was abuzz with news regarding the launch of the new map of PUBG, Venezia. This was before the official release of Vikendi and Venezia was supposedly modeled on Venice. At that time, the concept could not become a part of the game but recently, a newer version of it has been spotted online. Here is all about it.
Venezia 2.0: A map full of islands and waterways
Current PUBG maps are modeled on forests (Sanhok), deserts (Miramar), and snow-covered areas (Vikendi). Venezia 2.0 is unlike any of them and is comprised of more than 100 small islands. Its release will make the game more interesting as there is not much solid landmass to travel on. Venezia can provide some pretty unique battles in the game by upping the danger quotient.
A new playing style different from the traditional land-based combat
If Venezia releases, players might face an added challenge of traversing from island to island. This will create an extra layer of strategy that involves traveling without getting caught in the danger zone and hiding better in water. The map could also feature a lot of bridges. Because it is based on Venice, maybe we will see more water transport options in PUBG.
The map was designed by a Redditor
A Reddit user named IamEzalor designed Venezia and received positive feedback from the community. His first design had a lot of buildings and more bridges than all other maps combined. It was deemed a tad too large and resource intensive. The recently released Venezia 2.0 has 66% fewer buildings, 50% fewer bridges, the option of shallow water, and various minor adjustments.
Is Venezia releasing anytime soon?
While they seem to be keen on adding new maps, there has been no official confirmation from PUBG Corp. regarding even the final design of Venezia. If it launches, there might be concerns of player count getting fragmented as there are four maps already. On the other hand, the unique and original design of this map could reinvigorate player interest and bring more players.
How many maps does PUBG currently have?
PUBG has four maps at present. The recently release Vikendi is still a beta version. It is a snow-covered terrain with an area of 36 sq km. The original map, Erangel is good for hiding and the second map, Miramar is a sparsely populated desert-based map ideal for snipers. The last map, Sanhok is the smallest and ideal for intense group battles.
