#GamingBytes: PUBG is temporarily free on Xbox
PUBG, the tactically brilliant Battle Royale, has been available on Xbox for quite some time and gamers have some excellent news coming their way. Any PUBG fan with an Xbox can now download and play it for free, albeit for a limited time. Microsoft announced this fantastic news over Twitter for those eager to try and win a chicken dinner. Read about it here.
All about the free PUBG game
Microsoft announced that PUBG will be free to download and play on the Microsoft Store, for Xbox users, for a limited time only. The complete product can be enjoyed for free, by gamers, between November 8 and November 11. Considering the full game costs around Rs. 1,380 at online stores, players will be eager to avail this opportunity to play PUBG for free.

A microscopic cog in a fantastic plan
As we reported, Microsoft already teased 'big' news for PUBG Xbox, which will be revealed at the X018 event. In all likelihood, the free giveaway should tie in with this big reveal somehow. Although it remains unclear what Microsoft has up its sleeve, it could be giving new players a taste of the game, before launching new content, thus cementing a stronger fan base.
Combat the popularity of PS4
Another reason to incentivize the giveaway might be the rumors surrounding PUBG coming to Sony PlayStation 4 by the end of this year. Microsoft might be trying to encourage gamers to play PUBG on Xbox console rather than Sony's with the limited time offer.
The best things in life are free
As a Battle Royale, PUBG might have been the game-changer, but recent times have seen it slipping in terms of popularity to rival Fortnite. This is primarily because Fortnite is free-to-play and only makes money off in-game micro-transactions. While this limited time offer might attract more gamers on Xbox, making PUBG free for all, would put it on equal footing with Fortnite.
