#GamingBytes: PUBG and Suicide Squad will get a crossover
PUBG remains immensely popular in the Battle Royale genre due to its tactical military playstyle. However, it has realized that if it is to compete with Fortnite and its constant addition of new content, then it needs to make the game even more exciting. To this end, PUBG has released a trailer teasing a crossover with the DC Extended Universe film, 'Suicide Squad'.
Check out the trailer here
What does the trailer show us?
The trailer shows us close up shots of Harley Quinn with her identifiable 'PUDDIN' neck accessory. We also caught a glimpse of Quinn's silhouette through grenade smoke, next to a man's, who we assume is the Joker. The characters have been rendered to move like in-game PUBG characters, and the trailer warns gamers that a prison breakout is imminent.
It's time for some jailhouse rock
Although Harley Quinn and Joker could just be cosmetic changes in-game, like the Halloween monster skins, we think these characters will affect gameplay. The trailer implies that players have to stop Harley and Joker from breaking out of prison. The scenes appear to be from Miramar's prison area. It could hint at a limited time event or a new mode in this desert map.
Giving Fortnite a stiff competition
Notably, Fortnite had partnered with Marvel to include a limited-time event, which was hugely popular among players, where they could play as Thanos. PUBG might be looking to match this popularity by teaming up with DC so players just might play as Joker or Harley.
A possible new game type in the Battle Royale
If PUBG gets a new game type, players could be cops trying to prevent Harley and Joker from breaking-out. However, if the duo is AI or other players, the player count cannot be hundred; 98 cops versus 2 criminals, is unfair. Even if players turn into Harley and Joker, the affinity of PUBG for realism might not allow them to use their powerful weapons.
PUBG's love for Suicide Squad
While we wait for PUBG to bring out new crossover details, players can get the 'Suicide Squad' medal after PUBG matches now. All you have to do is die outside the playzone, drown, blow yourself up with grenades or jump out of a moving car!
