Faf du Plessis to be out for action for long
South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis has revealed that he will be out of action for an extended period of time. The veteran has suffered a third injury in less than a year's time. Faf returned from South Africa's tour of Sri Lanka early after injuring his right shoulder while diving on the field. Here is more on the same.
Faf to miss action for 7-8 weeks
Faf has been diagnosed with rotator cuff injury. The senior player stated that the injury isn't that serious and it's just a small tear. The focus for Faf is to return after being fully fit and manage the hectic schedule that's on the way. He is set to miss action for next 7-8 weeks.
Faf looking at the bigger picture ahead
Faf is set to miss the upcoming ODI series against Zimbabwe starting September 30. He isn't rushing a comeback from injury owing to the ICC World Cup 2019 to be held in England. South Africa will also square up against Australia for ODI series in November. Unfortunately, he has injured the same shoulder on which he had a surgery last year.
His tryst with injuries
Faf du Plessis underwent a surgery on his shoulder last year and came back early to play against India this year in the Test series. Post the 2-1 victory, he broke his finger during the 1st ODI against Virat Kohli's men. He then took part in the Indian Premier League 2018. He recently helped the Proteas to clinch the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
