Trent Boult has established himself as one of the most successful overseas fast bowlers in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history.
The left-arm pacer will represent Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025 as the franchise spent ₹12.50 crore at the mega auction to bag his services.
Boult is particularly known for his ability to swing the new ball both ways.

As per ESPNcricinfo, Boult is the only overseas bowler to have taken more than 50 IPL wickets in powerplay overs (1-6).
He has taken 62 wickets across 103 innings at an economy of 7.05. Only Bhuvneshwar (71) owns more wickets in this phase.
Notably, Boult has taken the most powerplay scalps since 2020 (53). No other bowler has even 40 wickets in this regard.

Boult has also set a unique record as the highest wicket-taker in an IPL innings' first over.
According to ESPNcricinfo, he has taken 30 wickets at an average of 17.34 in this category.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar follows closely with 29 first-over scalps, while no other bowler goes past 16 wickets in the opening over.

Boult's historic spell against MI
Boult, while representing Rajasthan Royals, bowled a historic spell against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, sending Rohit Sharma, Naman Dhir, and Dewald Brevis back for golden ducks.
He sent back Rohit and Dhir on back-to-back deliveries in the first over while Brevis fell to him on the second ball of the third over.
This was only the sixth time three of top-four batters recorded ducks in IPL history.

As per Kausthub Gudipati, Boult has taken two wickets in the first over of an IPL match five times, the most.
Notably, Dale Steyn, Praveen Kumar, and Umesh Yadav have attained this feat twice.
Boult has also taken the most wickets in the first over of an IPL innings since 2020 (27 scalps).
